If you've been waiting for an updated version of the 2017 Movado Connect smart watch, the wait could end. According to an FCC file (seen by Droid Life), the Swiss watchmaker is putting the finishing touches on the improved version of its premium smart watch. Here is everything we know about Movado Connect 2.

The FCC's presentations are very short in terms of design specifications, but the mentions of the watch as "MOVED CONNECT 2.0 / 40" in the documents lead us to believe that the case of the watch will come to 40mm. With the original rolling at a considerable 46.5 mm, it is a significant reduction in size. Even so, it is most likely a welcome change. A leather and metal strap is also mentioned, so expect to have interchangeable straps as well. The only color mentioned so far is black.

We are in firmer terrain when it comes to device specifications. The processor does not have an explicit name, but will be powered by Qualcomm APQ8009W, the application processor for the Snapdragon Wear 2100 and the Wear 3100. Hopefully the watch will work with the updated Qualcomm Wear 3100, since we have not seen enough Smart watches really adopt the new chip yet. However, the chances of the newer chip looking high, since the other expected specifications include 8 GB of storage, 1 GB of RAM, as well as compatibility with Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi and an IPX8 rating for water resistance and the dust. That is a pretty high specification clock, and we hope Movado will update the processor to match. It is also expected to run Wear OS 2.0.

However, there are a couple of potential weaknesses. A rather small 300 mAh battery is mentioned, which is the same size as the original watch battery. While it was shown that it was capable in the first Movado Connect, the limited capacity may not be able to keep up with the internal improvements. It also seems that the Connect 2.0 will have an LCD screen, instead of the AMOLED screen of the first Connect.

No release date mentioned potential, but if the FCC certification is being eliminated, then it is a safe bet that the clock is on its way soon. However, do not expect it to be cheap. Movado is a luxury watch brand, and it is likely that the price of Connect 2.0 matches the reputation of its manufacturer. The first Movado Connect was priced at $ 600 for the basic version, so do not expect the Movado Connect 2.0 to be cheaper.

That's all we know at the moment; we will keep you informed as we listen more.
