Good smart watches are not exactly hard to get, but they are if you want to find them at a lower price. Misfit has been the brand to follow for good Wear OS smart watches on a budget, with the original Misfit Vapor and Misfit Vapor 2 proving that the company has great potential. Now, the Misfit Vapor X, the next smart watch in its Vapor range, has been announced.
The Vapor X is aimed at those with a more active lifestyle, and hopes to woo them with a new lightweight aluminum alloy body and a comfortable new strap designed to be comfortable for long periods of use. However, it is not just for fitness fans, since the inclusion of the powerful Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor will mean that it attracts a much wider audience. Could the Misfit Vapor X be your next smart watch? Here is everything you need to know.
Take a look at the Vapor X and be forgiven for assuming that Misfit simply copied the Vapor 2 and called It is one day. But that's not the case: Misfit has completely redesigned the Vapor X to attract a new crowd. The new 42 mm aluminum alloy construction weighs only 43 grams and is only 12 mm thick. However, you haven't sacrificed the screen size, and you'll find a 1.19-inch AMOLED touch screen around the front. The redesigned strap is called Sport Strap +, and Misfit states that it has been designed to be ultra-comfortable, but if you're not a fan for any reason, you can change it for any other 20mm strap or bracelet.
It is also shaking some powerful specifications. Misfit finally abandoned the outdated Wear 2100 and included the new Wear 3100 in the Vapor X, along with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage. Misfit has not revealed how big the Vapor X's battery is, but we know it comes with a magnetic charger that is capable of charging 80% of the battery in just 50 minutes.
As expected, fitness capabilities are strong. Misfit states that the Vapor X includes a world class activity tracker, along with a "best in class" heart rate sensor on the back. These impressive boasts are backed with water resistance of up to 30 meters, GPS without ties for walks outside the network and a variety of sensors, including an altimeter, accelerometer and gyroscope. However, it's not just about physical fitness, and you'll also find NFC for Google Pay, Bluetooth and a microphone.
The Vapor X works with Google's Wear operating system, and is compatible with iOS devices of iOS 10 and above, and Android devices with Android 4.4 and later versions (excluding Android Go devices). There's a lot to enjoy here, and the Vapor X comes with all the usual Wear OS additions, such as customizable clock screens, notifications and weather, but it also comes with some pre-installed apps like Spotify (to actually use those 4 GB of storage) , the Noonlight personal security application and the Cardiogram application to monitor the heart.
Misfit has not yet published prices or availability details, but we will update it as soon as we know.
