It's hard to imagine how anyone could not have heard of Fortnite until now. The game has achieved the rare transcendence, from a videogame to a cultural phenomenon. It is now a multi-billion dollar industry in itself and one of the most popular children's entertainment products.
But with this huge popularity, players have the desire to get their dose Fortnite where and when they need it. This has led many places to implement game restrictions on their internal networks. Fortunately, there are ways to avoid this! Do not blame us if your boss catches you in the middle of the line when you're supposed to be working!
Fortnite was born during an internal game jam at the Epic Games. A game jam is where individuals or small teams of developers try to produce a video game that works from scratch in the shortest possible time.
During that impromptu game session, many Epic developers produced projects that combined the development and construction of the then popular Minecraft and Terraria titles, with the ever popular competitive online shooters genre.
The game started as a zombie survival game. Small teams of players had to build a fort and then face waves of zombies. After the break of PUBG inspired by Battle Royale, Fortnite turned and found an incalculable success in this last genre. Both versions of the game now exist under separate titles.
Earlier this year, Fortnite made its debut on iOS, followed by its type of Android debut. As the game develops cross-platform in an important way, including the option to play with other players using a different platform, the number of players and the amount of time spent playing, has continued to grow exponentially.
This is excellent News for gamers. It is not great news for anyone trying to teach or maintain a productive work environment. We bet there are more than a few managers who currently can not help but remember themselves 25 years ago, trying to sneak copies of Doom into their school or work network so they can participate in a good fight to the death old fashioned while in the time of the company. Universities are sometimes more lenient with this, but many of them have also chosen to keep Fortnite out of their networks.
The range of devices Fortnite can play on, including smartphones that can connect to the Internet without Wi-Fi access, presents a challenge for those trying to block the game. Fortunately for players, there are many ways to avoid restrictions.
How to keep playing
Despite the restrictions that you may encounter at your school or office, it is usually not too difficult to find a solution. Using a VPN
The first thing you can try is to use a virtual private network (VPN). A VPN will encrypt your internet traffic. This means that institutions will not be able to block Fortnite because they will not know if the data they are sending and receiving have something to do with the game. All you will see is that you are sending something to the VPN server.
A VPN can be easily installed on a smartphone, laptop or desktop computer. You can even find VPN services dedicated to providing the best gaming experience possible.
Use of 4G
In some cases, network administrators have really thought of everything. Some Wi-Fi networks are blocked so well and so secure that there's simply no way you can find something they do not want. In these cases, the best thing you can do is simply change to 4G.
With a smartphone, this is as simple as changing a setting. For laptops and desktops, you can connect them to your smartphone, allowing them to connect through your phone's 4G. The 4G data flows through your cell phone provider. Therefore, unless they have some strange restrictions on games, you should have no problem accessing the Fortnite game servers.
If you are one of the many people who have jumped aboard the Fortnite train, you do not want anything to keep you away from your favorite game. Investing in a VPN is the best way to make sure you are not blocked from playing.
