Here's How to Transfer Money from Your Phone without Internet

Consider a situation where you are stuck in a place where you have almost no Internet connection and have a high priority banking transaction to do. Whether booking tickets for your favorite movie, paying electricity bills to avoid disconnection, or even helping a friend in need, the lack of a proper Internet connection can be really frustrating. To overcome this, NUUP (National Unified USSD Platform) has developed a method in association with Unified Payments Interface (UPI) that will allow you to perform transactions on the fly without the need for a stable Internet connection by dialing a particular USSD code.

All you have to do is open your Marker and type * 99 # of the number associated with your bank account. After a few seconds, several service request options appear on your screen. The main services offered are send, receive and request money. To send money, the service allows several options, such as entering a mobile phone number, UPI ID, Aadhaar number, account number + IFSC. Other services include checking the balance of the account, configuring the UPI PIN, changing the UPI PIN and obtaining details of the last 5 transactions.

According to NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India), the service can be used 24 * 7 and works even on holidays. To avoid misuse, RBI has set a limit of ₹ 5,000 per transaction, which is pretty good in my opinion. There are no additional charges from the bank for conducting transactions through this USSD code, but according to the guidelines of the Indian Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRAI), your network provider may charge up to $ 1.50 per transaction.

Next time, you will be stuck in an area with little Internet connectivity, try using * 99 # to perform your banking transactions.
